In the summer of 1904, the old Washington Senators were so bad, that the baseball writer Charles Dryden came up with the phrase: “WASHINGTON: First In war, first in peace, and last in the American League.” And through decades of bad baseball, the moniker stuck... But fast forward to 2019, and our new Nationals are now first in the National League and playing in the World Series! So we’ve created this new shirt to honor them and pay homage to the past.
