Infant & Toddler - Taxation Demands Representation - Heather Dust
In the mid 1970's, years before "Taxation Without Representation" was on all of our license plates, there was a short-lived, but more forceful slogan for DC Statehood: Taxation Demands Representation.
Inspired by the spirit of that campaign, we dug into the archives for our new design. For our new shirt, we combine a fun retro look with powerful symbolism and a call to action.
With the recent nationwide support for DC Statehood, our shirt was made for a time like this.
Check out the inspiration for our design here - at the DC Public Library Photo collection. It's a 1975 picture of DC Delegate Walter Fauntroy with an unidentified woman holding bumper stickers & buttons that say ''Taxation Demands Representation'."
